Our Faith

What we believe:

  • God – There is one God, the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has no beginning and no end. He reveals himself in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who are one in essence and equal in power and glory.  [Isaiah 40:28; Psalm 90:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14]
  • Jesus – Jesus, the Christ, the Son of God, became a human being according to God’s plan, lived a perfect life, died and rose from the dead for our salvation, to free us from the result of our sin. There is no other way to the Father but through Him.  [John 1:1-3,14; 1 John 3:5; Romans 4:25; Romans 5:6-8; John 14:6; Acts 4:12]
  • Holy Spirit – The Holy Spirit is responsible for inspiring the Bible.  He convicts people and draws them to God. He dwells in each Christian. He helps, empowers, guides, and comforts Christians and affirms the truth of God.  [2 Peter 1:20; John 16:8-11; Romans 8:9-11;Romans 15:13; John 16:13, 14]
  • Bible – The Bible, both the Old Testament and New Testament, is the inspired Word of God. From its truth, we find instruction and inspiration in order to align ourselves with God and His purposes. [2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 3:15, 16; James 1:21]
  • Salvation – We are saved by the grace of God, through faith. Salvation is a free gift of God. We demonstrate our faith by obedience to the commands of Christ when we accept him as Lord and Savior. These commands include believing, repentance, confession of Christ before men, baptism, and living a Christian life. Baptism is by immersion and it is a direct command in the Bible. [Ephesians 2:8-10; Romans 14:9; Acts 2:38; Matthew 10:32, 33; 2 Corinthians 5:9, 14, 15]
  • The Great Commission – It is every Christian’s responsibility to reach out with love and share the truth of Christ, inviting others to follow him.  In doing this, we are required to teach others to obey all of Jesus’ commands.  [Matthew 28:18-20]
  • Prayer – We pray to God who loves us and has great power. For example, we pray for each other, for those who are unsaved, for the healing of the sick, for our own decisions in our lives, for missionaries worldwide, and for the leaders of our country.  [1 Thessalonians 5:17; Ephesians 6:18-20; Matthew 9:35-38; James 5:13-16;  James 1:5; 1 Timothy 2:1-4]
  • Church – The church is Jesus’ idea [Matthew 16:18].  We want to follow the blueprint made for the church in the New Testament and follow the example of the original church described in Acts and the New Testament letters.  [Colossians 1:18; 1 Timothy 3:14, 15]
